Top 10 James Bond Destinations

Top 10 James Bond Destinations

With the arrival of the new James Bond movie Spectre, we here at got to thinking. What are the top 10 best locations that our favorite spy has visited? There's so many places to consider, 007 is a regular globe trotter after all, and as we all know, he has a certain standard.

Andy and Alex debated the subject at length, as they are wont to do about things they share a passion for. The result contained a rather intriguing list of destinations any James Bond fan will remember, but some might surprise you a little...

10. New Orleans

![Roger Moore](/content/images/2015/11/rmjb-3.jpg)
Starting at the bottom of the list, we find one of the greatest settings for Roger Moore's Bond, New Orleans has come a long way since it hosted Live and Let Die.

Maybe it was the murky waters or the running over snapping crocodiles (one of Andy's all-time favorite scenes, by the by), but something drew us in and captivated us in a new way. As a Bond destination, it was pretty cool, but let's not forget that even without 007 to spice things up New Orleans is a great place to visit. Since its resurgence after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans is still a popular destination for tourists. From sightseeing tours that show you the city's beautiful cemeteries and old Garden District houses, to plenty of museums and shops.

9. Iceland

Who can forget the hauntingly beautiful scenes of Iceland from Die Another Day? The glittering world of diamonds and ice hotel palaces brought Pierce Brosnon's Bond back to his full glamorous self after his little stint in a North Korean prison. He cleaned up rather nicely after his brush with death and torture, wouldn't you say? As a destination, Iceland is a breathtaking country, and I know we say that about a lot of places; this magical place defines beauty.

8. Havana, Cuba

You can feel the colorful nature of Cuba the moment you set foot in Havana. A variety of different 007s have come to Havana for 'off-book' help; a scene which is rapidly changing with the improving relationship between this radiant nation and the United States. Cuba has a vibrant party and music scene, complete with many nightclubs and bars including the Tropicana which is sure to make your eyes pop with its rich performances.

7. Saigon, Vietnam

You're unlikely to forget the scenes from Tomorrow Never Dies that saw Brosnan's Bond driving a motorcycle through the bustling streets of Saigon.

Bond: You were pretty good with that hook.

Wai-Lin: Thanks. It comes from growing up in a rough neighborhood. You were pretty good on the bike.

Bond: Thank you. It comes from not growing up at all.

Yes, I'm sure we all remember that shower scene. The glamour of Saigon should not be lost to us, however, as it is a city full of amazing sights. Saigon is a very modern city, chock full of the history of this beautiful country.

6. Macau

Glittering lights, spellbound lights, oh and those terrifying Komodo dragons from Skyfall. What's not to love about the true glamour of the Macau we saw through Daniel Craig's Bond? (Well, maybe not the dragons...) This is *the* place to go when in China to experience the real glitz and shine; see people win and lose big money at the tables of the casino, and catch a glimpse of the China we always see in the movies.

5. Venice, Italy

I could write books on Venice. As destination, I'm pretty sure it features on most wishlists. This vibrant, water-bound city has inspired many explorers, composers, authors, artists, tourists, and yes, celebrities, with its mythical beauty. It's not surprising then, that it features in three Bond films: From Russia with Love, Moonraker and of course, most recently, in Casino Royale. With is canals and narrow passageways, ancient walkways bridging waterways and mind-blowing architecture, Venice is a must see.

4.The Bahamas

One of *the* sought after locations for any globetrotter, the Bahamas have often been described as paradise on earth. It's a friendly place, with great people, great parties, and even greater weather. We've seen Bond here almost as often as we see him in London - we got snippets of the Bahamas in Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice, The Spy Who Loved Me, The World is Not Enough, For Your Eyes Only, and Thunderball.

3. Austria

![Ski Jump](/content/images/2015/11/skijump-copy.jpg)
Austria has a lot to offer. It remains one of the most beautiful countries in Europe, with unique architecture to rival even Venice, and a history as delicate as the snow on the Alps to the south. For our purposes, however, it features this high in our picks because, to be frank, it's the site of one of the all-time famous stunts in any James Bond movie: Roger Moore's ski chase and eventual parachuting leap. Who could forget that?

2. Monaco

Wait! Why isn't this our number 1? Bear with me, it'll all make sense in a moment. True to the James Bond theme, Monaco is where it all comes rolling to life with Casino Royale. If you're into cars, you'll know about the Grand Prix. It is an unparalleled event and worthy of the fuss everyone makes of it. If you'd like to see it for yourself, you definitely need to check out this website, and if you're serious and want the VIP treatment then you'd definitely have to check out these ticketing options for 2016.

1. Space

You heard us. SPACE. The final front- wait, wrong movie series. Let's start that again.

What's that old saying? "Aim for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars?" That. We've seen Bond strike out towards the infinite, Moonraker, and the antagonists strike down from the heavens, Die Another Day. Space really is the most glamorous target of all, and one day - maybe sooner than we realize - we actually will land among the stars.

Elektra King: I could have given you the world.

Bond: The world is not enough.

Elektra King: Foolish sentiment.

Bond: Family motto.

And there you have it, the top 10 (okay, fine: 9 currently reachable) James Bond Destinations from And yes, before you ask, we do have some locations in those areas, and who knows, maybe in the future, we'll have the perfect James Bond packages!
