A Romantic Restaurant Built Inside A Cave

We often think of restaurants being in the city, countryside or even the seaside, but have you ever thought about a restaurant in a cave? Sounds interesting right? Well, this restaurant in Italy is literally inside a cave!

The Summer Cave restaurant at Hotel Grotta Palazzese is located in the old town of Polignano a Mare in Puglia. The region is in the southern parts of Italy and is known for its sunny weather as well as miles of Mediterranean coastline. That's right, this place is by the sea as well.

The restaurant isn't only interesting but also has a romantic atmosphere. Being lit in such a way to give a romantic vibe and the restaurant has the natural reflection of the aqua marine waters as well thanks to its proximity to the sea. It has played host to many romantic moments and local nobility has held banquets here since the 1700s.

The restaurant itself is set in a cave of limestone, where you can also enjoy the view of the Adriatic sea and the vertical cliffs by the seaside.

The Grotta Palazzese hotel is a 4 star hotel that also has rooms carve out of the rock and is tastefully decorated. The whole setting is designed for intimacy with the hotel only accommodating 25 rooms.

The restaurant is open from May to October, so you have plenty of time to plan a trip there now. We also perused TripAdvisor to see what others have to say about the experience. Many rate the restaurant highly with great reviews. If you were wondering about the food served here it is Mediterranean and Italian. Though the biggest draw here really is not the food but rather the experience, atmosphere, beautiful views and overall uniqueness of the place.
