7 More Great Travel Apps!

We love our tech don't we. All the advancement of the modern world has definitely made certain things a little easier and more convenient. We had previous posted a post on 7 great travel apps, which featured some great suggestions for travelers. There are, however, so many good apps out there that the list can go on and on. We need to choose what is right for us at the time we are about to travel. So, here are more great travel apps for you to consider.

1. LiveTrekker

This is an ambitious little app that will help you document your travels. It creates something of a digital journal on an interactive map, so you can go back and track where you have already been. Absolutely great for people who want to roam around and explore freely.

Not only will the app track you on your journey, but it will also monitor the altitude and speed. So, I reckon it would be great fun for any traveler, even if you're headed to the alps. The app also allows you to add pictures, videos and text to completely document your travel.

2. XE Currency

Keeping track of your finances is very important for any traveler. Though most of the time you would probably use a card to make purchases, knowing how much you're paying will give you peace of mind. XE currency is my go to when it comes to checking on exchange rates. This app will definitely come in handy, to any traveler. The app has been downloaded over 20 million times. It's no surprise, as the website is very popular to begin with.

The app also goes beyond just exchange rates, it shows rates for precious metals and historic currency charts, if you would like to check on those things as well. For the traveler however, it can convert any currency in the world, and it can work off line by saving the last updated rates. So, you can save on data.

3. City Guides and Offline Maps by Stay.com

There are tons of guide apps out there. So, when you find one you like and works for you, you stick to it. This app was listed on pcmag.com's Best Travel Apps of 2015. The app allows you to explore travel destinations and import your itinerary, designed on their website and save them offline. You can also check out recommendations from the website for places to go in the area. The best part though is that you can get suggestions from friends as well, as to where to go. It can also sync your guide with those that you are traveling with, now that would be a big help.

4. Time Out

If the previous app isn't your thing and you still would like to know where to go and what to do, download the Time Out app. It is a great directory of ideas and stories about cities in the world. They do cover many cities, but do check if they have the one you're going to.

You can find great recommendations for bars, restaurants and local attractions. You can even check out what events are happening in the area. So, you can attend a local music gig and other live performances or events. A feature that will also proof useful is that you can customize a travel guide just for you.

5. Google Translate

We are all familiar with Google translate on the web, but this app is really useful for some day-to-day practical quick translations. It may not always be perfect, but it will definitely come in handy. A great feature of the app is that you can hold up your phone and using the camera, point it at a text - such as a sign - and Google will translate it for you. Now that's useful!

6. MenuPages

You can always find restaurants nearby using Google maps or other apps. The MenuPages app, however, will help you check out the prices on the menus available, even if the menu of a restaurant is a rotating one. You can even check out the online website before you download it to see if it will be useful for you.

The app currently covers New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, South Florida, and Washington, D.C.

7. TripAdvisor

This app comes from one of my favorite websites when it comes to doing some travel research. The app allows you to do everything that you would do on their website. Check out reviews and recommendations for restaurants, hotels and places to see in the area. You can also check out what tours are in the area and top things to do!
